Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Job Description

Hover City is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to drive the operational growth and scalability of our innovative, modular housing business. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in franchising, manufacturing, and operational leadership. The COO will be instrumental in overseeing the day-to-day operations, ensuring that the business is optimized for efficiency, quality, and growth as we expand into new markets both domestically and globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Franchise Operations Management: Lead the development and scaling of our franchise model, ensuring that franchisees are equipped with the tools, technology, and support to succeed. Oversee franchise onboarding, training, and performance, ensuring consistency across all locations.
     

  • Manufacturing Optimization: Manage and optimize Hover City's manufacturing processes, ensuring high-quality, cost-efficient production using our proprietary origami-inspired design and automated systems. Drive improvements in R&D, quality control, and production automation.
     

  • Global Expansion Strategy: Oversee the international expansion strategy, ensuring successful market entry and operational setup in new regions. Manage cross-border operations, regulatory compliance, and local market needs, leveraging international experience.
     

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead a high-performance operational team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation. Develop and implement training programs for both internal teams and franchisees to ensure consistent execution of brand standards.
     

  • Real Estate & Site Selection: Work closely with the real estate team to identify and select optimal locations for operations, franchisees, and manufacturing facilities. Navigate regulatory challenges and assess real estate market opportunities.
     

  • Financial Oversight: Collaborate with the executive team to set financial goals and budgets, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensuring profitability and operational efficiency. Control costs and optimize resource allocation.
     

  • Supply Chain & Vendor Relations: Manage relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors to ensure a reliable supply chain. Negotiate contracts and ensure timely deliveries while maintaining cost-effective solutions.
     

  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Ensure that Hover City’s products and services continue to evolve through cutting-edge R&D, quality control, and process automation to stay competitive in the industry.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven experience as a COO, Operations Manager, or similar role, ideally in a franchise-based business model. Extensive experience in manufacturing and operations management.
     

  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in modular product manufacturing, housing, or related fields. Real estate experience is a plus.
     

  • International Experience: Significant experience in managing international operations, navigating diverse regulatory environments, and scaling businesses across global markets.
     

  • Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments. Proven ability to manage large-scale operations and drive performance.
     

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term operational strategies, balancing short-term objectives with long-term business goals.
     

  • Technology Savvy: Familiarity with automated production systems, R&D, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies into business operations.
